Many people continue to ask us what optimized content is. The truth is that this definition has changed over the past few years, and more so following the latest Google Penguin update. Too many SEOs were over-optimizing everything. SEO articles were produced that offered no value to the reader. Think about it. So you have your main keywords that you were told to use in your content, so you use them as many times as possible. Realistically, how optimized can content come across when it uses the same phrase over and over?
So here it is: optimized content is JUST GOOD CONTENT! Aim to inform your readers with some new concept or break down an old one. The key is to create though provoking content, that others will link to naturally.
Rules to follow include:
- 400-700 words
- Use long term keywords if you feel like using any in the text
- Branding is not new, but it has become increasingly valuable in SEO
- Add a citation (name, website, and email) at the end if you are so inclined to leave some type of link
- Most importantly, the unique must be unique
